Heavy Hitters

Goals & Policies

Program Goals

  • Build highly skilled teams that compete with top clubs across the Sacramento region, the state, and beyond.

  • Teach advanced fundamentals, baseball IQ, and situational awareness to perform at a high level.

  • Deliver life lessons—teamwork, humility in victory, resilience in defeat.

  • Create lasting friendships and memories for players, coaches, and families.

  • Instill responsibility, discipline, and a strong work ethic rooted in good sportsmanship.

  • Help every player reach their next step—whether that’s a new position, a higher division, school ball, or beyond.

Commitment & Communication

  • Heavy Hitters requires full commitment from players and parents. Be on time for practices and games.

  • Multi-sport athletes are welcome—communicate schedules early so conflicts are managed. In season, Heavy Hitters should be the priority when possible.

  • If a player will miss a practice or game, notify the coaching staff in advance via the team app or email/text.

  • Check the team schedule daily on our team app (e.g., GameChanger) and the league/tournament sites. Please avoid repeated scheduling texts that are answered there.

  • Players who step away mid-season forfeit their roster spot. Returning later requires a tryout; team-app access will be removed.

Playing Time

  • Playing time and positions are earned through effort, attitude, practice habits, performance, and team needs. No innings or positions are guaranteed.

  • Do not discuss playing time during or immediately after a game. Use the 24-hour rule and reach out via the team app or the staff email listed on our website.

  • Expect honest feedback on what to improve. Pulling a player off the field mid-game may result in removal from the team.

Before the Game

  • A copy of the player’s birth certificate is due 30 days before the first game. Without it, the player is ineligible.

  • Arrive 60 minutes early for warm-ups and pre-game. We prepare as a team.

  • Weather: unless you receive a cancellation from staff via the team app/text/email, assume the game or practice is ON. If unsure, check the league site before leaving.

During the Game

  • Parents: let coaches coach. No dugout visits or in-game instructions from the stands.

  • Players stay in the dugout with the team (including between doubleheaders); no sitting with family during games.

  • Only rostered players and staff are allowed in the dugout. Please don’t congregate behind it.

  • Send players prepared—hydration and needs handled before first pitch.

  • Uniform: full Heavy Hitters hat/jersey/pants/socks; jersey tucked. Proper cleats/turfs required. Protective cup is mandatory for all players.

  • Sportsmanship: no arguing with umpires; no taunting or distracting opponents. Cheer for us, not against them. No derogatory comments in person or online.

  • Zero tolerance: physical contact/fighting results in immediate removal. Throwing bats/helmets or abusing equipment may lead to suspension or dismissal.

After the Game

  • Players clean the dugout and return team gear before packing their own bags.

  • Stay for the post-game talk unless you’ve cleared an early departure with staff before the game.

  • Violations of these policies can result in reduced playing time or removal from the program without refund.

Financial Policies

  • Monthly fees are due on the scheduled date. Late payments incur a 10% late fee. Players may be held from workouts or uniforms until accounts are current.

  • Experiencing hardship? Contact the staff to arrange a plan—we’re here to help.

  • No refunds. Program funds are committed to leagues, tournaments, vendors, and suppliers.

Heavy Hitters Travel Ball — FAQs

  • Travel baseball is competitive, tournament-based youth baseball designed for players who want advanced training and tougher competition than typical recreational leagues. Unlike Little League, travel programs enter events run by multiple sanctioning bodies—commonly USSSA, NCS, Triple Crown Sports, and Perfect Game—and play against strong teams from a wider area.

    • Weekend tournaments: Most games are played on weekends in a tournament format at multi-field complexes or host sites.

    • Where we play: Heavy Hitters typically selects events within driving distance of the Sacramento region, with the possibility of one out-of-state trip per year.

    • Event selection: Each team chooses tournaments case-by-case based on age, skill level, schedule, and budget—there’s no fixed number required.

    • Games per event: Most tournaments start with pool play and move to single-elimination. Teams usually play 3–6 games over 2 days, depending on results.

  • Heavy Hitters works to keep travel ball accessible while maintaining a quality experience. Current estimated costs:

    • Player fee:$325/month

    • Uniform package: Approximately $300 (varies by final package).

    • Tournament fees: Average $70 per player per tournament.

    • Travel expenses: Vary by event (lodging, fuel, meals, etc.).

We actively run fundraisers to offset tournament costs. Families should plan to participate so we can keep fees as low as possible.

  • Expect 2–3 practices per week (team-dependent). Weekends often include a friendly on Saturday or Sunday—or a tournament that can run both days.

Tip: We manage schedules in Gamechanger and on event sites. Check them regularly for updates.
